KANGAR, May 11 (Bernama) -- Three researchers from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) have brought international recognition to Malaysia by securing gold medals and special awards at the prestigious European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation (EUROINVENT) 2025 in Iasi, Romania.
UniMAP vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli, said Assoc Professors Dr Rozyanty Rahman, Dr Dewi Suriyani Che Halin and Dr Muhammad Mahyiddin Ramli, each presented innovative research that captured the attention of international jurors at the exhibition, which ran from May 8 until yesterday.
“They received Gold Medals and were honoured with the EUROINVENT Special Award, Special Award from Poland, and Special Award from Taiwan for the excellence and practical potential of their innovations,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Rozyanty showcased an eco-friendly hybrid biocomposite with self-recovery properties for use in underground fuel storage tanks, while Dr Dewi Suriyani presented an anti-stain surface innovation featuring smart TiO₂ surface modification.
Dr Muhammad Mahyiddin, meanwhile, introduced a gas sensor developed from recycled oil palm waste.
Zaliman added that the trio were also invited as speakers at the 11th International Conference on Innovative Research, which was co-organised by UniMAP.
“The conference accepted and published 148 research articles across indexed journals and academic proceedings, reflecting the high calibre and impact of the research presented by international participants,” he said.
EUROINVENT 2025, organised by the Romanian Inventors Forum in collaboration with Europe Direct Iasi, brought together participants from over 25 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The event serves as a key platform for researchers, inventors and academics to showcase innovations, explore commercial potential and promote cross-border collaborations.
