SIHEUNG (South Korea), May 19 (Bernama-Yonhap) -- A man suspected of killing two people and seriously injuring two others over the course of several days was arrested on Monday after being placed on a nationwide wanted list, South Korean police said.
The Chinese national of Korean ethnicity in his 50s, identified as Cha Cheol-nam, was apprehended at around 7.25pm in Siheung, located approximately 32 kilometres southwest of Seoul, according to the Siheung Police Station, Yonhap News Agency reported.
He had been on the run after allegedly stabbing the female owner of a convenience store at around 9.30am on Monday, they said.
The woman sustained serious injuries to her abdomen and face, and is currently being treated in hospital.
After checking the suspect's licence plate, police said they arrived at his home at around 11am and discovered a body that appeared to be several days old. The body has yet to be identified.
Police continued their search for the suspect, as he was not at home, but at around 1.20pm, he stabbed a man in his 70s at a park some 2 km away from the convenience store.
The stabbed man was also seriously injured and taken to hospital.
By 2 pm, police had discovered a second unidentified body at a home across from the convenience store.
Authorities said they plan to request an arrest warrant for Cha after conducting an investigation into the incidents.
