JOHOR BAHRU, May 21 (Bernama) -- PKR) Secretary-General Dr Fuziah Salleh has been entrusted with officiating the party's Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Congress and Wanita Congress tomorrow night.
Fuziah said the decision was made on the suggestion of the PKR president and Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, after Deputy President Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli declined the invitation to open the congresses of the party's Youth and Women's wings.
“There were several names proposed earlier to officiate the events after we couldn’t secure the Deputy President. Subsequently, the President proposed the Secretary-General (to officiate both the AMK and Wanita Congresses) given that I am not contesting in the Central Leadership Council election.
“When one is contesting, it doesn’t seem appropriate to officiate. If it’s the Deputy President, it’s different because that’s the tradition,” she told Bernama here today.
The AMK and Wanita Congresses were originally supposed to be officiated by the Deputy President, but Rafizi, who is also the Minister of Economy, declined the invitation via a letter to Anwar.
