LANGKAWI, May 23 (Bernama) -- Global Component Asia (GCA), a local aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider, is strengthening Malaysia’s aerospace and defence sector by developing local expertise and forging key international partnerships.
The effort is part of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’ 25), which began on Tuesday.
GCA chairman Datuk Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi said one of the key MoUs was signed with CW Aero Services (CWAS), aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global aerospace market.
“This partnership marks a crucial step in our mission to enhance Malaysia’s aerospace capabilities.
“By combining our local expertise with CWAS’ world-class technology and solutions, we are not only supporting the national vision for industrial growth but also boosting our competitiveness in global aviation,” she said in a statement today.
GCA also signed agreements with local industry players to support the nation’s defence technology development.
This includes a collaboration with Pen Aviation to develop unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for defence and enforcement agencies, as well as a partnership with Kemalak Aerospace to support MRO services for avionics systems and components of the FA-50M light combat aircraft.
“Our investment in Pen Aviation is expected to accelerate defence innovation and strengthen Malaysia’s technological capabilities.
“These partnerships support the Royal Malaysian Air Force through reliable maintenance solutions while nurturing local talent in the defence sector,” she added.
