KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Gamuda Bhd and Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), through their wholly owned subsidiaries, Gamuda Technologies Sdn Bhd and DNeX Solutions Sdn Bhd, have entered a joint venture (JV) to provide novel air-gapped Google Distributed Cloud Services (GDC Services).

The GDC Services is a sovereign cloud solution that offers customers the highest regulatory requirements access to Google Cloud’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies in a secure, fully isolated, on-premise environment.

The 50:50 JV will act as the sole provider of GDC Services,  targeting a market worth over RM11 billion, with the primary audience including government entities—both federal and state—as well as private organisations like financial institutions and security-sensitive enterprises.

Gamuda group chief digital officer John Lim Ji Xiong said the collaboration went beyond technology as the group brought comprehensive capabilities in project delivery, value engineering, and experience in organisational transformation.

"This collaboration with DNeX marks a pivotal strategic alliance, combining our multifaceted technological prowess to enhance and enable AI and cloud adoption in the national digital landscape.

"By leveraging our deep AI and cloud expertise and established partnership with Google Cloud, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate transformation across the regulated sectors,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, DNeX executive chairman Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir Jamalullail highlighted the JV’s potential to significantly enhance digital transformation within the public sector.

"This unique solution will unlock possibilities in AI and advanced analytics in delivering integrated, citizen-centric digital government services, advancing treatments for chronic health conditions, and optimising energy production in hydro or solar power plants,” he said.

In a separate filing to Bursa today, Gamuda announced plans to acquire a 20 per cent stake in Cloud Space Sdn Bhd for up to RM18 million through its subsidiary, Gamuda Technologies.

This acquisition positions Gamuda to tap into a potential RM36 billion market with its advanced technology services focusing on cloud and AI capabilities.

Lim noted that Cloud Space is a Malaysian start-up that offers Google Cloud, Google Workspace, Chrome Enterprise, and Google for Education.

"Our investment in this award-winning Google Cloud Premier Partner further strengthens the partnership with DNeX to deliver digital innovation and develop future-ready digital infrastructure.

"This value-added approach will benefit existing and future projects, serving clients across the private and public sectors,” he added.

Cloud Space also provides software-as-a-service (SaaS), AI, and cybersecurity-related solutions.

It has one of the fastest-growing customer bases in the market.
