KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- NGC Energy Sdn Bhd plans to further expand its solar photovoltaics (PV) system business in the commercial and industrial sectors this year from residential projects.
Chief executive officer Julianna Kamaruddin said the company completed two projects in the commercial and industrial sectors last year, primarily in Klang Valley and Pahang.
“So for this year, we are focusing to expand more on the industrial and commercial sectors because these systems are larger and offer greater opportunities. Additionally, this allows us to help businesses manage their overall costs,” she told Bernama during their special buka puasa event with orphans and underprivileged children today.
NGC Energy, recognised as the second-largest liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplier in Malaysia, unveiled its Solar PV System Programme in December 2023, positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy (RE) sector.
Beyond supporting the government’s push for renewable energy and its National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) targets, she said the company can also help businesses take advantage of available incentives to lower operating expenses through this investment.
“This is a significant investment, but the government provides incentives such as capital tax allowances to support business owners and investors. It is a strong initiative that benefits both businesses and the nation’s renewable energy goals,” she said.
Julianna noted that the company received an overwhelming response to its residential projects by completing 50 installations last year. “Building on this momentum, NGC Energy aims for steady growth, targeting a 15 to 20 percent increase in residential projects this year,” she added.
Commenting on the company’s buka puasa programme, she said that NGC Energy has brought Ramadan joy to over 40 children from three shelter homes in Kuala Lumpur.
During the event, the company presented a total donation of RM9,000, with each shelter home receiving RM3,000 to support their daily operational needs.
Additionally, each child received a “duit raya” of RM30 and a special Ramadan gift as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
She said this initiative is part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, reflecting the company’s commitment to community welfare and social sustainability.
