Press Metal, Public Bank, CelcomDigi Boost KLCI At Mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia kept its positive momentum at mid-afternoon, supported by buying interest in most heavyweights, led by Press Metal Aluminium, Public Bank and CelcomDigi.

The three counters collectively lifted the composite index by 7.26 points.

At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 20.11 points, or 1.38 per cent, to 1,474.87 from Friday’s close of 1,454.76.

The benchmark index had opened 19.29 points firmer at 1,474.05.

Market breadth was positive with gainers thumping decliners 692 to 263, while 358 counters were unchanged, 1,070 untraded, and nine suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.20 billion shares worth RM1.22 billion.

Among the heavyweights, CIMB Group added 9.0 sen to RM6.74, Tenaga Nasional rose 8.0 sen to RM13.30, Maybank increased 7.0 sen to RM9.89 and Public Bank climbed 6.0 sen to RM4.30, while IHH Healthcare declined 7.0 sen to RM6.73.

Among the actives, Inari Amertron advanced 13 sen to RM1.79, T7 Global climbed 3.5 sen to 29.5 sen, Tanco Holdings added 3.0 sen to 81 sen, MY EG Services gained 2.5 sen to 92.5 sen, and Nationgate Holdings rose 2.0 sen to RM1.25.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index jumped 145.01 points to 10,955.09, the FBMT 100 Index expanded 140.52 points to 10,742.19, the FBM Emas Shariah Index surged 156.11 points to 10,761.02, the FBM 70 Index soared 178.06 points to 15,443.9, and the FBM ACE Index climbed 91.76 points to 4,503.95.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index gained 194.05 points to 17,728.58, the Industrial Products and Services Index added 3.01 points to 142.44, the Energy Index increased 4.21 points to 652.95, and the Plantation Index rose 126.12 points to 7,188.65.
