PUTRAJAYA, April 15 (Bernama) – Institut Keusahawanan Negara Bhd (INSKEN) aims to assist 25,000 entrepreneurs nationwide through 198 training and mentoring programmes this year.

Acting chief executive officer Dr Maizura Mohamad said INSKEN will continue to be proactive this year and will introduce programmes, including the INSKEN Mini Coaching, to focus on four main topics — employee management, financial management, marketing, and product development.

She said the agency, which is under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP), is committed to empowering micro and informal entrepreneurs through various training and mentoring programmes based on industry needs.

“INSKEN also welcomes more strategic collaborations from various parties to ensure the success of this initiative,” she said in a statement today.

INSKEN partnered various organisations throughout last year, including Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council, Selangor Zakat Board, the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), Maybank Islamic, and Public Islamic Bank through programmes such as the Kursus Asas Keusahawanan and Kursus Asas Pembangunan Produk dan Servis.

Mentoring programmes conducted between 2017 and 2024 contributed RM101 million to the national economy. During the same period, 1,134 new jobs were created, and 130 entrepreneurs successfully upgraded their operations from micro to small businesses.

Twenty-four mentoring programmes conducted in 2024, comprising 19 INSKEN bumiputera business coaching programmes and five Program Bimbingan Keuntungan Menu, generated RM23 million in sales revenue, created 468 job opportunities, and resulted in 60 entrepreneurs upgrading their business status.

Four start-up coaching programmes, INSKEN Program Bimbingan Usahawan Permulaan, help entrepreneurs to systematically and effectively plan and organise marketing strategies were also held in 2024.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said INSKEN programmes meet current industrial needs and are also aligned with developing the Malaysia MADANI policy framework, which emphasises the values of sustainability, prosperity, innovation, respect, confidence, and compassion.

“INSKEN has integrated training modules and frameworks based on MADANI values to support business continuity, ultimately delivering a positive impact on the well-being of the people, especially local entrepreneurs,” he said.

Other than mentoring programmes, INSKEN also implemented 207 short-term training programmes in 2024, focusing on sales and marketing, finance, operations, and business management, benefiting 6,437 entrepreneurs nationwide.
