KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Sapura Industrial Bhd (SIB) has unveiled a new corporate identity as it sets its sights on high-growth sectors such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, mobility solutions, healthcare, Internet-of-Things technologies and the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
Managing director Datuk Syed Izuan Syed Kamarulbahrin said the move aligns with its long-term diversification strategy while staying true to its core component manufacturing business.
He said the company has operated independently since 2013, and the rebranding exercise is timely to eliminate lingering confusion over its affiliation with its former parent company, Sapura Holdings.
“We want to be more than a manufacturer, (and) with this new identity, we aim to become a service provider, innovator and co-creator of next-generation solutions, aligned with Malaysia’s high-technology (tech) industrial vision,” he told a press conference after the launch of its new corporate identity here today.
He said that as part of Sapura Industrial’s foray into the EV segment, the group has begun investing through its “SIB Mili” platform, partnering with experienced entrepreneurs in the EV business.
“We are now focusing on post-warranty vehicle servicing, EV and hybrid battery repairs and technology training to support Malaysia’s growing clean mobility ecosystem.
“We have seen strong market demand, especially in servicing EV and hybrid cars after their warranty periods, while battery repair and cell replacement technology will be a core part of this offering, alongside upskilling of local talent,” he added.
Syed Izuan said that although EV currently contributes about one per cent to the group’s total revenue, Sapura Industrial anticipates a five-fold growth in the segment in the near term.
“However, EV will not yet be the main revenue driver, with traditional component manufacturing -- such as stabiliser bars, brake discs and springs -- continuing to form the backbone of its business, including for both internal combustion engine and EV models,” he said.
