KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- XPENG, a high-tech smart mobility company, has unveiled its upgraded AI Tech Tree strategy and introduced its 2025 X9 flagship vehicle, marking a significant leap toward a smarter, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven mobility future.
XPENG’s updated vision places AI as the primary driver of mobility evolution, emphasising electrification and embodied AI across its vehicles, robots, and aerial mobility solutions.
In a statement, its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, He Xiaopeng emphasised that XPENG’s mission is to make smart mobility more accessible, sustainable, and transformative worldwide.
At the heart of XPENG’s renewed strategy is a full-stack in-house research and development ecosystem encompassing cloud and vehicle-based large models, customised AI chips and a foundational architecture for these models — making it the first Chinese automaker to integrate mass-produced, end-to-end large AI models into its vehicles.
One major highlight is XPENG’s Turing AI Chip, equipped with a 40-core processor capable of running 30-billion-parameter models locally. This chip provides three times the computing power of current industry standards and will be implemented across XPENG’s range of intelligent products, with mass production expected in the second quarter of 2025.
XPENG’s innovation also extends into the skies with the XPENG AEROHT Land Aircraft Carrier, the world’s first modular flying car, set for mass production in 2026 with over 4,000 pre-orders already secured.
Another standout debut is XPENG’s humanoid robot “IRON”, featuring 60 joints, 200 degrees of freedom, and an AI-driven 720-degree vision system. Powered by the Turing chip, IRON is designed to perform complex tasks in industrial and retail settings, demonstrating the integration of automotive AI technologies into real-world applications.
The newly launched 2025 XPENG X9 represents a leap in intelligent multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) design, featuring 496 technical upgrades and Turing AI Smart Driving standards across all models. Its end-to-end AI model enables seamless, autonomous navigation from one parking lot to another upon delivery — a first in the industry. The X9 will launch in select European regions in the second half of 2025, followed by broader expansion.
XPENG has rapidly expanded its footprint, operating in over 30 countries by the end of 2024 and topping European premium electric vehicle (EV) sales over 40,000 euros. It also led mid- to high-end EV exports from China and became the best-selling Chinese emerging EV brand domestically in early 2025.
Looking ahead, XPENG plans to mass-produce its Kunpeng Super Electric System by the fourth quarter of 2025, extending the range to 1,400 kilometres. With its AI-driven ecosystem encompassing smart cars, flying vehicles, and robotics, XPENG is positioning itself as a leader in redefining transportation for the AI era.
