Seven Pahang GLCs Report Profits In 2023

KUANTAN, April 22 (Bernama) -- Seven Pahang government-linked companies (GLCs) recorded profits in 2023 based on audited financial statements, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail told the state legislative assembly today.

The companies were Pahang State Agriculture Development Corporation Group, Kumpulan Yayasan Pahang, Pahang State Development Corporation Group, Pahang Corporation Group, Perbadanan Setiausaha Kerajaan (PSK) Pahang, Cameron Highlands Development Corporation, and Pahang State Parks Corporation.

Meanwhile, Amanah Saham Pahang Bhd recorded a loss of RM20.5 million, mainly due to a RM13.6 million loss at its key subsidiary Mentiga Corporation Bhd, said Wan Rosdy.

“Pengurusan Pasir Pahang Bhd also posted a loss of RM2.3 million, following the suspension of export licences (AP) by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, which restricted its operations and sales.

“The state government and Pengurusan Pasir Pahang Bhd are appealing to the federal government to lift the freeze to allow the company to resume operations,” he said at the Pahang State Legislative Assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang.

He was responding to a question from Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PN-Cheka), who asked how many GLCs were profitable and how many were facing difficulties.

In reply to a supplementary question on forensic audits, Wan Rosdy said several companies were instructed to undergo such audits after failing to post profits from shrimp farming activities.

“Following the audit, three individuals resigned, and the companies have since returned to profitability,” he added, noting that the state government would continue to monitor the performance of its subsidiaries.
