MIHAS 2025: Leveraging MDT Platform To Target RM4.5 Bln in Global Halal Sales

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- The 21st Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) will leverage its groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI)-powered MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) platform to target RM4.5 billion in global halal sales for 2025.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the platform which was introduced last month serves as the right tool in empowering small and medium enterprises to effectively reach global markets and engage in seamless cross-border digital trade.

"Over the years, MIHAS has evolved from a trade fair into a dynamic global hub, fostering innovation, forming strategic partnerships, and creating diverse opportunities across the entire halal value chain.

“This year, we are geared for an even more impactful event, guided by the compelling theme, ‘Pinnacle of Halal Excellence,’ which highlights Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to showcasing the most cutting-edge advancements in halal, and celebrating global excellence within this thriving sector,” he said in his welcoming remarks at the soft launch of the 21st edition of MIHAS here, today.

To be held at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on Sept 17-20, 2025, MIHAS 2025 will showcase 14 different clusters – ranging from food and beverages, pharmaceutical, Islamic art and crafts, Islamic finance, modest fashion, and many more.

The event aims to attract over 45,000 trade visitors, feature 2,380 booths across nine halls and the participation of 45 countries.

Meanwhile, Reezal Merican said MIHAS 2025 will also showcase the diversity of ASEAN members and its culture, in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

“As Malaysia’s trade promotion agency, MATRADE remains steadfastly focused on propelling export growth. Despite the complexities of the current global trade landscape, such as the recent tariff impositions, we maintain our strong commitment to achieving a minimum of five per cent export growth towards the RM1.58 trillion target set for the year,” he said.

He said MATRADE is a strong advocate of the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030, which envisions achieving RM75.2 billion in halal exports and contributing a significant 11 per cent to the national gross domestic product (GDP).

MIHAS 2024 achieved a remarkable achievement; RM4.3 billion in sales, a substantial 34 per cent increase, and attracted over 43,000 visitors from an impressive 90 countries.

“Notably, the International Sourcing Programme alone witnessed a near doubling of sales, reaching RM2.5 billion. The bar is now higher for MIHAS 2025,” he added.

After having successfully organised its first ever international edition of MIHAS in Dubai last year, MATRADE will have its next international edition in Shanghai, China, (MIHAS@Shanghai) from Nov 5-10, 2025, in conjunction with the China International Import Expo (CIIE), reaching deeper into East Asia’s booming halal market.

“The Shanghai edition will also showcase a comprehensive range of halal offerings that would further facilitate valuable business connections between international suppliers and Chinese distributors and retailers,” said Reezal Merican.
