KUCHING, May 13 (Bernama) -- The International Construction Week (ICW) Borneo 2025, which commences today, marks a new chapter in showcasing industry excellence and bringing together key players to explore new ideas and technologies.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the ICW Borneo 2025, themed "Innovative Construction for a Sustainable Future", is more than just an industry gathering; it represents a strategic convergence of minds, markets and missions.

"We are here to explore how construction can be reimagined in the face of climate change, rapid urbanisation, technological disruption, and the pressing need for sustainable development across Southeast Asia," he said in his welcoming speech.

The two-day event was officially opened by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here today.

Nanta highlighted that a Construction Sustainability Summit will be among the flagship components of ICW Borneo 2025, featuring thought-provoking sessions with industry leaders and policymakers.

Among the session topics are "The Hydrogen Revolution: Sarawak’s Pathway to a Green Energy Economy", "Driving Sustainable Growth Through Clean Power", "Innovations in Construction and ESG Strategies", and "Green and Innovative Construction Materials".

He also said BuildXpo Borneo will be another major component, with over 20 organisations participating to exhibit cutting-edge construction technologies, materials and systems tailored to Southeast Asia's evolving infrastructure needs.

"This year, I am pleased to note increased international participation, including from China, which underscores the growing ASEAN–China cooperation in infrastructure and technology exchange," he said.

Strategic seminars and technical meetings will also be held, covering topics such as Construction Revolution 4.0 (CR4.0), facility management certification, and the ASEAN Build Construction Working Group Meeting.

"These forums are not merely platforms for display – they are platforms for connection and transformation and are key to shaping a more integrated, forward-looking ASEAN construction ecosystem," he added.

ICW Borneo 2025 is jointly organised by the Works Ministry, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
