KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Nine Malaysian companies will participate in SEMICON Southeast Asia (SEA) 2025, the region’s premier platform for the global electronics and semiconductor industry.
These companies offer a broad line-up of various products and services tailored for the microelectronics and semiconductor value chain, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said in a statement today.
This marks the 10th consecutive time MATRADE is participating in the event, which will be held in Singapore this year for three days starting tomorrow.
MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said MATRADE’s participation in SEA 2025 proved that Malaysia is taking proactive steps to strengthen its domestic ecosystem and enhance the resilience of the semiconductor and electronics supply chain, as the global electrical and electronics (E&E) landscape evolves amid geopolitical uncertainties.
“Furthermore, this also underscores MATRADE’s pivotal role in driving market access beyond traditional partners and unlocking new business opportunities,” he added.
In 2024, Malaysia’s trade in the E&E sector reached RM1.06 trillion, with exports contributing RM601.21 billion.
Exports of semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, transistors and valves represented a 64.5 per cent share of total E&E exports, amounting to RM387.98 billion.
Key export destinations for E&E products included the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
On average, exports of E&E products to the Asia-Pacific region have increased by more than 11 per cent over the past five years, MATRADE said.
“With a strong foundation in high-value manufacturing and robust government support, Malaysia is well-positioned to be a preferred partner in the global and regional semiconductor and electronics industry,” it added.
