PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- OPPO Malaysia launched the OPPO A6 Pro 5G smartphone, which features military-grade durability with IP69 water and dust protection and military-grade shock resistance.

OPPO Malaysia marketing manager Jonathan Lim said the A6 Pro 5G comes with a big upgrade to a 6,500mAh battery, enough for eight to nine hours of gaming. It has an 80W SuperVOOC flash charge that requires only 50 minutes to fully charge.

"The OPPO A6 Pro 5G is perfect for people out for an adventure, in tough environments or working with the new updates and need different features.

"It has a 120Hz AMOLED ultra-bright display. Even under the sun, you will be able to see it. This phone has a very big upgrade in design. It is very slim, sleek and stylish," he told the media at its launch here today.

He said the A6 Pro 5G 16GB (8+8) RAM + 256GB ROM is available in coral pink and stellar blue. It retails at RM1,199. It will be officially available at all OPPO stores and e-stores beginning Sept 27.

"Customers who pre-order it now will get a phone by Oct 27 and you will receive an exclusive OPPO A6 Pro gift box worth RM169," he said.

Additionally, Lim said OPPO is holding an exclusive early bird roadshow at IOI City Mall for five days starting today. Customers can get the device and take part in the OPPO Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Tournament. Exclusive MLBB merchandise is also available.

In conjunction with the launch, OPPO Malaysia also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MediaTek, JP Niners and GamesMY Kelantan.

Marketing director Monica Chin represented OPPO Malaysia while director of technical marketing Armstrong Chen signed on behalf of MediaTek.

The other signatories were JP Niners chief executive officer (CEO) Muhammad Faries Faizal Shamsul and GamesMY Kelantan CEO Luqman Hakim Mat Hassan.

The MoU strengthens collaboration in mobile gaming innovation, optimises chipset performance for competitive play and fosters deeper integration of gamer-first technologies into OPPO’s future products.

“Our collaboration with MediaTek and eSports teams reflects OPPO’s commitment to redefining mobile gaming through industry-leading performance and connectivity,” said Chin.

Meanwhile, Chen said the OPPO Reno 14 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chip, which delivers 41 per cent better central processing unit performance and 54 per cent better artificial intelligence performance.

“MediaTek Dimensity 8450 provides faster and smoother gaming. It also comes with a dual-engine performance to keep the phone cool so players can enjoy long gaming sessions without lag or overheating,” he said.

Besides that, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, offering up to 10% faster frame rates compared to the previous generation and over 50% stronger GPU performance than other devices in its segment.

Muhammad Faries Faizal said the phone performs well with eSports.

“When it comes to smartphones, there are indeed many brands available. We chose OPPO phones because right from the start, we saw that their smartphones are really ‘solid’ for gaming.

“Performance is smooth with no lag and the cooling system is strong. The phone remains stable despite a long game.

“For games like MLBB, this is important because every second is critical. With OPPO, our team can play confidently and give 100 per cent commitment in every tournament,” he said, adding that the battery's eight-hour capacity helps the team to stay focused.

The Fire and Rescue Department Director-General Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad said his department will collaborate with OPPO Malaysia to set up a Community Fire Learning Centre in one of the stations.

“At this station, we will utilise OPPO’s capabilities to provide training facilities for the community,” he said.
