BUKIT KAYU HITAM, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- NCT Group of Companies (NCT Group), in collaboration with Northern Gateway (NGX), has launched the RM1.10 billion gross development value (GDV) Managed Integrated Smart Industrial Park, NCT InnoSphere, in Kedah.
NGX is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc.).
Located on a 55.44-hectare free zone land, NCT InnoSphere is planned in eight development phases, each comprising a mix of industrial, commercial, and support components to promote efficient operational, trade, and manufacturing activities.
The project will offer over 230 premises, including semi-detached units, detached units, clusters, terraced units, and custom-built configurations, designed to meet the needs of various businesses across different sectors.
Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said the Ministry of Finance, as the leader in fiscal policy and strategic investment, supports this agenda, including through the Delapan project within the Special Border Economic Zone (SBEZ) under NGX.
She said that NGX has been mandated to develop the Malaysia-Thailand border area, particularly Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, as a regional hub for trade, logistics, and industry.
“Among the high-impact projects already implemented are the construction of the new ICQS Complex, a Logistics Hub and Inland Port, as well as the Northern Digital Corridor with an Internet Exchange that is now operational.
“NGX is not only focused on physical infrastructure, but also on digital ecosystems, smart industries, and sustainable supply chains. This forms the foundation for making SBEZ the key gateway to the mainland ASEAN market, thereby enhancing Malaysia's competitiveness,” said Lim.
She was speaking at the project’s launch ceremony, officiated by Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, here today.
According to Lim, the NCT InnoSphere development will further strengthen Delapan’s position as an industrial hub and become a symbol of confidence in Kedah’s potential to offer a smart manufacturing environment, green technology, and a strong regional supply chain ecosystem.
“This is the best time for investors and entrepreneurs to be part of this transformation. InnoSphere offers a dynamic platform to penetrate the ASEAN market, featuring world-class infrastructure and competitive costs. Besides investment, InnoSphere will also boost tourism and commercial sectors,” she said.
Meanwhile, NCT Group founder and managing director Datuk Seri Yap Ngan Choy said that NCT InnoSphere will not only create long-term economic value for the northern region but also support the nation’s efforts to diversify logistics channels and streamline trade between regional markets.
“Under this joint development agreement, NCT Group is responsible for full project delivery, including planning, construction, and ecosystem development.
“Meanwhile, NGX, as the landowner and facilitator, will oversee major infrastructure works, utility provisions, and regulatory coordination to ensure smooth project implementation,” he said.
