RHB Bank Proposes RM5 Bln Multi-currency CP, Sukuk Programmes

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- RHB Bank Bhd has proposed a multi-currency Commercial Papers Programme (CP Programme) and a multi-currency Islamic Commercial Papers Programme (Sukuk Murabahah Programme) with a combined limit of up to RM5 billion.

RHB Bank said it has lodged the programmes with the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) under the SC’s Guidelines on Unlisted Capital Market Products via the Lodge and Launch Framework. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the bank said the CP Programme will enable the issuance of commercial papers in multiple currencies, including the ringgit, while the Sukuk Murabahah Programme will facilitate the issuance of Islamic commercial papers in multiple currencies, including the ringgit.

"The proceeds raised from the issuance of the CPs under the CP Programme will be made available to the Issuer and its subsidiaries, without limitation, for working capital, general banking purposes, and/or refinancing of existing borrowings or financings.

"The proceeds raised from the issuance of the Sukuk Murabahah under the Sukuk Murabahah Programme will be utilised for Islamic financing and advances disbursement to customers, investment in Islamic money market instruments, and refinancing or redemption of Islamic financing facility for Islamic business purposes," it said. 

The bank added that the programmes also allow the issuer to issue CPs or Sukuk Murabahah in line with the guiding principles of RHB’s Sustainability Sukuk and Bond Framework.

RHB Investment Bank Bhd has been appointed as the principal adviser, lead arranger, and lead manager for the programmes.
