KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) – Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has won the prestigious “The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2025” (BRC Awards) for having the highest shareholder returns over three years in the Super Big Cap, or above RM40 billion market capitalisation, category.
Its achievement and significant returns to shareholders were recognised at the 16th edition of the awards, according to a news report today.
The policy of a 30-60 per cent dividend payout ratio is part of TNB's strategy of giving back to the rakyat through government institutions such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), Khazanah Nasional Bhd, and the Kumpulan Wang Persaraan pension fund (KWAP).
Last year, the EPF distributed 6.3 per cent in dividends, and TNB was one of the major contributors to its total dividend payout.
TNB paid almost RM3 billion in dividends last year.
This year’s award, presented by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, underscored the utility’s sustained value creation for shareholders and stakeholders alike, adding to its appeal among investors.
The BRC Awards, now in its 16th year, evaluate members on profit growth, return on equity, and total shareholder returns over a rolling three-year period. The results were independently audited by Deloitte Malaysia, a framework designed to spotlight consistent, long-term performance.
The awards ceremony brought together leading corporates from across a wide range of sectors.
The recognition in the Super Big Cap bracket places TNB among Malaysia’s largest and most closely watched companies. It also signals resilient earnings quality, disciplined capital allocation, and dividend and share-price performance that outpaced peers over the three-year assessment window.
The BRC methodology’s focus on multi-year metrics helps filter out short-term volatility and emphasises durable value creation.
