KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Synology Inc (Synology) is strengthening its enterprise focus with the rollout of new data protection and storage solutions as it marks its 25th anniversary, amid rising demand for digital transformation across Southeast Asia.
Synology's head of Southeast Asia, Thachawan Chinchanakarn, stated that the company is experiencing strong momentum driven by increased data growth and the need for more advanced technology solutions.
“Our solutions cover all four pillars of data management - reliable storage, enhanced productivity, robust data protection, and smart video surveillance - creating an integrated ecosystem that enables businesses to address today’s IT challenges and prepare for tomorrow,” she told a media briefing here today.
Among the new offerings is ActiveProtect, a backup appliance with capacity ranging from 8TB to 140TB, designed with immutable backups, air-gap capabilities, and compliance support.
The company also introduced PAS7700, an active active Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) all-flash storage solution engineered to deliver uninterrupted, high-performance services for enterprise mission-critical workloads. “Active-active” refers to a high-availability system architecture where two or more servers or controllers run simultaneously, sharing the workload in real time.
Synology will also bring artificial intelligence (AI)-powered capabilities into its Office Suite, including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), semantic search, summarisation, and real-time translation.
Meanwhile, Thachawan said the Malaysian market plays an important role in the company’s regional growth strategy, supported by the government’s push for digitalisation.
“Malaysia is one of our key markets in Southeast Asia. The government has a clear digital transformation blueprint, and as more sectors adopt digital technologies, the amount of data will increase, and the first thing organisations need is storage, followed by data protection,” she said.
When asked about local investment, Thachawan said most research and development remains centred at Synology’s headquarters in Taiwan, but its strategy in Malaysia focuses on strengthening partnerships and service capabilities. “We have been in the Malaysian market for more than 15 years, focusing on greater knowledge through partner training and greater service to strengthen local support for enterprise customers,” she noted.
Synology's Malaysia country manager, Jason Sin, said the company has recorded strong growth locally, driven by increased demand for data backup solutions. “The Malaysian market continues to record double-digit growth, driven by strong demand from the government sector and rising awareness of cybersecurity risks that have significantly boosted the need for backup solutions,” he added.
He noted that demand for storage has also grown in the manufacturing sector, adding that the company is working closely with local partners to support this growth.
Jason said Synology’s local partners are capable of system sizing, on-site installation, architecture design, and providing proof-of-concept services. “We also have advanced replacement services locally to reduce downtime. Our team is well-trained through regular technical sessions,” he added.
