KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Amogy, a provider of mature, scalable, and highly efficient ammonia-to-power solutions, has secured a US$15 million strategic investment from South Korea’s GS Engineering and Construction (GS E&C) and affiliated venture investors XPLOR and GS Futures. (US$1 = RM4.15)
The latest funding brings Amogy’s total capital raised since inception to US$315 million, with nearly US$100 million raised over the past year to support ammonia-based power generation projects in key global markets.
“Amogy has been extremely fortunate to partner with investors that are global leaders in the markets and industries that are core to our mission – and that’s exactly what GS E&C is,” said Amogy co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Seonghoon Woo in a statement.
Meanwhile, GS E&C Chief Data Officer, Jin-Hong Huh: “This investment goes beyond a financial participation—it represents a strategic collaboration to build a carbon-free ammonia energy ecosystem with Amogy.
“GS E&C is committed to achieving carbon neutrality in Korea and abroad and to realising our ESG vision through hydrogen- and ammonia-based energy transition projects.”
The investment strengthens the existing partnership between Amogy and GS E&C to advance carbon-free distributed energy systems, including a commercial pilot project in Pohang, South Korea. The project aims to deploy an ammonia-based distributed power generation system by 2026, with plans to scale up to 40 megawatts during the full commercial phase in 2028–2029.
While Amogy contributes breakthrough ammonia-to-power technology and agility, GS E&C brings extensive engineering, procurement, and construction expertise across energy, infrastructure, and smart city projects, as well as global business development capabilities. Together, the companies aim to accelerate commercialisation and large-scale deployment of ammonia-to-power solutions worldwide.
Amogy’s solutions enable clean power generation both off-grid and on-grid. In addition to Pohang, the company recently partnered with Singapore’s A*STAR to explore ammonia-based power development, with a focus on decarbonising the country’s data centre industry.
The company also expanded its presence in South Korea in early 2025 to support regional initiatives with strategic partners across the Asia-Pacific.
