KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) — Companies should view corporate reporting as a strategic tool rather than a compliance burden amid the global economy's transition towards green and digital paradigms.
Finance Minister II and acting Economy Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said that corporate reporting serves as a way to communicate purpose, progress, and performance with clarity and integrity.
“I wish to take this opportunity to commend Bursa Malaysia Bhd, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) for their collaboration in driving continuous improvement in corporate reporting standards.
“The government recognises that strong institutions and professional integrity are vital in achieving our national corporate objectives,” he said in his keynote speech at the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2025 here today.
In addition, he said the government relies on organisations, namely Bursa Malaysia, the MIA, and MICPA, to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, nurture ethical corporate cultures, and ensure that Malaysia continues to be viewed as a trusted destination for investment and business.
Amir Hamzah said that looking ahead, the challenges confronting the corporate community are significant, from digital disruption and sustainability demands to changing investor expectations. Yet, within these challenges lie opportunities to innovate, to lead, to build trust, and to promote openness and accountability.
“Let us harness technology not only to enhance efficiency but also to improve the transparency and public trust. Together, let us work towards a corporate Malaysia that is innovative in thinking, responsible in action, and transparent in communication,” he added.
For more than three decades, NACRA has stood as a hallmark of excellence in corporate reporting, setting a benchmark for transparency, accountability, and good governance in Malaysia's corporate landscape.
“This year's NACRA is especially significant. Not only because it marks 35 years since its inception, but also because it has attracted 60 participating organisations. This milestone reflects a growing recognition within our corporate community of the importance of clear, honest, and comprehensive reporting,” he said.
