19/01/2026 06:17 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Carbon Measures announced the first cohort of experts appointed to the Technical Expert Panel on Carbon Accounting, a global initiative to define the principles, scope, and practical applications of a ledger-based carbon emissions accounting system.

According to a statement, the panel comprises senior leaders from industry, science, civil society, and academia, bringing expertise across sustainability, technology, public policy, and industrial and financial systems.

The panel will help establish a reliable framework to track product-level emissions across the value chain and support decision-making by companies, standards-setters, and policymakers worldwide.

“Each of these experts brings deep technical knowledge and a long-standing commitment to reducing emissions.

“This first group reflects a shared ambition to accurately differentiate low-carbon products and accelerate meaningful emissions reductions,” said Carbon Measures Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Amy Brachio.

Meanwhile, ICC Deputy Secretary-General, Andrew Wilson said the panel brings exceptional depth and diversity of experience needed to unlock carbon accounting as a tool for decarbonisation.

The initial panel members include Alicia Seiger (Chan Zuckerberg Initiative), Dr Amy Luers (Microsoft), Armin Knors (formerly Bayer), Dr Benedikt Plümper (Banco Santander), Billy Pizer (Resources for the Future), Jakob Stausholm (University of Oxford; former CEO of Rio Tinto), Kate Maher (Stanford University), Koushik Chatterjee (Tata Steel), Rachel Teo (Private Family Office), and Tatsuya “Todd” Hoshino (Mitsui & Co).

ICC is leading the global selection process in partnership with Carbon Measures. Additional experts will be announced ahead of the panel’s first meeting later this quarter. In response to strong interest, the application deadline has been extended to Feb 15, 2026.
