KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- NIKE Inc announced changes to its Senior Leadership Team affecting three regional Vice President/General Manager (VP/GM) roles.
In a statement, the company said these leadership changes are intended to accelerate Nike’s Sport Offense and Win Now actions, strengthening alignment between global strategy and local marketplaces.
In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Carl Grebert, who has served Nike for nearly 30 years, will retire, and César Garcia will succeed him as VP/GM effective Feb 2.
Garcia, a 25-year Nike veteran, has previously led teams across Asia Pacific and Latin America (APLA), Global Running, and Western Europe.
“César brings clarity where things are complex and momentum where teams need it most,” said NIKE President and Chief Executive Officer, Elliott Hill.
Meanwhile, Angela Dong, who has led Nike’s Greater China operations since 2005, will step down effective March 31, with Cathy Sparks, a 25-year Nike veteran and most recently VP/GM of APLA, set to succeed her.
Sparks has extensive experience across Asia and will focus on rebuilding momentum and reconnecting sport and culture to the market.
With Sparks’ transition, Cristin “Crissy” Campbell, VP of Nike Brand for APLA, will serve as interim VP/GM of APLA and join the Senior Leadership Team. Campbell has more than 15 years of experience at Nike, including eight years in APLA, leading teams such as Jordan and Women’s divisions.
