KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Omantel has launched “Otech”, the Provider of Technologies of the Future and Enabler of Digital Transformation, alongside the announcement of several strategic partnerships, highlighting the breadth of Otech’s ecosystem and its expanding operational scope.
The launch responds to the rapid growth of the information and communication technology (ICT) services market, expected to be driven by government-led digital transformation initiatives and the development of the digital economy.
This is in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to build a knowledge- and technology-based diversified economy, according to Omantel in a statement.
The ceremony was held at the Royal Opera House Muscat under the patronage of Oman Investment Authority President, Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al-Murshidi, with representatives from public and private sectors, as well as technology and digital transformation specialists in attendance.
Oman Investment Authority for Investment Deputy President and Omantel Board of Directors Chairman, Mulham bin Bashir Al-Jarf said the launch consolidates Omantel’s position as an integrated digital technology company and marks its strategic evolution from a telecom operator to a modern technology enterprise.
He added that Omantel’s vision treats technological transformation as an integrated ecosystem focused on modernising infrastructure, introducing digital solutions, developing national capabilities, and fostering sustainable value for the economy.
During the ceremony, a number of strategic partnerships were announced, including collaborations with Oracle for hyperscale computing platforms through Oracle Alloy; PwC for cybersecurity solutions and local capability development; and Nagarro for systems integration in emerging technologies and sector-specific solutions.
Otech now operates the most diverse cloud computing ecosystem in Oman and is the first in the Middle East to receive Amazon Web Services accreditation for sovereign cloud services, underscoring its technical readiness and regional leadership.
The launch positions Otech as a central enabler of Oman’s digital economy, supporting innovation, digital sovereignty, and the development of national technology talent, in line with the country’s Vision 2040 goals.
