Petronas Gas' Net Profit Dips To RM1.73 Bln In FY2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- Petronas Gas Bhd’s (PGB) net profit decreased to RM1.73 billion in the financial year ended Dec 31, 2025 (FY2025) from the previous financial year’s RM1.84 billion.

The losses were due to lower margins in the gas transportation segment, reflecting reduced revenue coupled with costs incurred for gas supply restoration works following the Putra Heights pipeline fire incident.

The segment also recorded a higher level of maintenance activities, mainly for preventive maintenance as well as measures undertaken to address emerging operational risks.

Utilities segment margins were also tighter, in line with lower revenue, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

PGB’s revenue was also lower by 2.5 per cent to RM6.37 billion from RM6.54 billion a year ago, primarily attributable to lower product prices in the utilities segment.

Revenue was also dragged down by lower gas transportation revenue following a downward tariff adjustment arising from the sharing factor for the prior year’s lower internal gas consumption (IGC).

For the fourth quarter (4Q), the group’s net profit narrowed to RM363.91 million from RM417.03 million, a year earlier, while revenue also dipped to RM1.57 billion compared to RM1.62 billion in the same period previously.

The dividend declared in respect of FY2025 amounted to 22 sen per share and will be paid on March 24, 2026.

On prospects, PGB said the group anticipates sustaining resilient performance in 2026 while remaining attentive to challenges arising from an increasingly dynamic operating environment.

“The newly approved tariff revisions under Regulatory Period 3 for Gas Transportation and Regasification business segments are expected to continue contributing positively to group earnings.

“The group remains committed to ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations, underpinned by prudent cost discipline and operational excellence, as well as sustainable growth opportunities that deliver value for all stakeholders,” it added.
