KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Digital Realty, the world’s largest cloud- and carrier-neutral data centre platform, announced the expansion of its Digital Realty Innovation Lab (DRIL) network into Singapore and Japan, marking the first Asia Pacific locations following the inaugural DRIL in Northern Virginia in September 2025.
The new DRILs provide fully supported environments for enterprise customers and partners to test and validate artificial intelligence (AI) and hybrid cloud deployments before scaling to production. The labs accommodate real-world workloads or pre-configured infrastructure, addressing infrastructure readiness as a key barrier to AI adoption.
The Singapore facility aims to act as a digital innovation hub, connecting local enterprises, research institutions, and global technology providers. In Japan, the DRIL will be hosted at the NRT12 data centre in Greater Tokyo, featuring 20 racks with direct liquid cooling for high-density AI and high-performance computing workloads.
“Since launching the DRIL in the United States, we have seen strong demand from Asia Pacific customers seeking dedicated environments to validate AI and hybrid cloud architectures before deploying at scale.
“Bringing this capability to Singapore and Japan reflects the digital maturity of these markets and accelerates responsible AI deployment,” said Digital Realty Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific, Serene Nah in a statement.
The labs leverage Digital Realty’s ServiceFabric platform to connect seamlessly with cloud and network providers, while its Pervasive Datacenter Architecture (PDx) methodology supports real-world testing of AI and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Key capabilities of the DRILs include high-density AI and HPC testing up to 150 kilowatts (kW) per cabinet, energy and cooling-aware benchmarking, AI-specific infrastructure optimisation, hybrid cloud validation, AI workload orchestration via the Private AI Exchange (AIPx), and latency testing across multiple sites.
Digital Realty said the labs enable enterprises to test configurations, optimise performance, and refine hybrid strategies while de-risking deployments, supporting the growth of AI-driven digital economies in Singapore and Japan.
The DRIL network already supports a global ecosystem of customers and partners, including AMD, Cisco, and Lenovo, focused on scaling AI and hybrid cloud architectures.
