Sarawak To Host Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference In June

27/02/2026 09:20 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition (APGH) 2026, from June 9–11 in Kuching, Sarawak, aims to position the region as a competitive and resilient green hydrogen hub in support of Malaysia’s and Sarawak’s low-carbon ambitions.

Conference topics include renewable integration, integrated hydrogen hubs in Kuching and Bintulu, storage and transport infrastructure, hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia and methanol, downstream industries, and export logistics, which reinforces the need for a resilient, end-to-end value chain.

Sarawak’s Deputy Energy and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Dr Hazland Hipni said the state approaches the low-carbon transition in a structured and pragmatic manner.

He said green hydrogen is not pursued in isolation, but as part of a broader low-carbon ecosystem that includes renewable energy deployment, hydropower, solar energy, energy efficiency initiatives, sustainable fuels, and emerging carbon management solutions.

These building blocks work together to support emissions reduction while ensuring energy security and economic resilience, he said.

“APGH 2026 is designed to reflect this integrated and delivery-focused approach. To realise the future of green hydrogen, we must build a complete and resilient hydrogen ecosystem.

“This ecosystem comprises several critical building blocks, starting with clean and reliable renewable energy supply, followed by scalable hydrogen production technologies, storage and transportation infrastructure, and clear end-use applications in industry, power generation, and mobility,” he said at APGH 2026’s industry engagement session and press conference today.

APGH 2026, themed “Empowering the Future – Delivering a Resilient Hydrogen Ecosystem”, is hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak, organised by Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd, and supported by Business Events Sarawak.

Hazland, who is also APGH chairman, said the conference will address regulatory frameworks, strong safety standards, access to financing and talent development through implementation-focused discussions and real project case studies, ensuring that outcomes, not theories, remain at the centre of the conversation.

He also said the conference programme will feature more than 90 speakers, including over 25 government speakers, representing 30 nations, providing diverse perspectives across policy, project delivery, technology deployment, and investment.

Additionally, 30 technical and industry-focused presentations will ensure in-depth discussion on real-world challenges and solutions.

The exhibition will host over 100 participating companies, showcasing ready-to-deploy technologies, innovations, and services across the hydrogen and low-carbon value chain.

“This creates a dynamic environment for business matching, partnership formation, and project advancement.

“In this regard, APGH 2026 is positioned as a must-attend regional platform, not only for dialogue, but for action and delivery,” he added.
