JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi hinted at a “more amazing” investment figure to be announced in the near future, following positive developments in the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
He said the state recorded total investments of RM91.1 billion in the first nine months of 2025, the highest in the country for the period.
“An even more amazing figure will be announced. God willing, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani) will soon announce the new figures,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier, he said a detailed discussion on the direction of JS-SEZ was also held with Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources committee chairman Lee Ting Han today.
Commenting further, Onn Hafiz said the encouraging achievement in the level of state investment was the result of close cooperation between the federal and state governments in accelerating the implementation of strategic initiatives under the special economic zone.
He said the JS-SEZ master plan, to be launched here in the near future, will detail various efforts and initiatives to intensify economic activities in the area.
“In the master plan, various efforts and initiatives will be announced to intensify economic activities in the JS-SEZ. This is just the beginning; many more (initiatives) will be implemented,” he said.
The menteri besar said all the initiatives will benefit not only the state economy but also the people of Johor, especially in terms of job opportunities and local business development.
“We are on the right track for Johor’s progress. Believe me, there will be job opportunities for our children to realise their dreams in their hometown.
“For local companies and entrepreneurs, there will be opportunities to be involved in the global chain as well as the supply chain of international companies,” he added.
