KUALA KRAI, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) successfully captured a batik python measuring about seven metres long and weighing 240 kilogrammes after it devoured three goats belonging to residents of Kampung Ngangah here today.
Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa said they received a call from a farmer at 7.15 am, alerting them that the snake had taken refuge inside the goat pen next to his home after swallowing a mother goat and her two kids.
“In response, a team consisting of three members of the Guchil Volunteer Fire Brigade and seven members of the Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene
"The operation to capture the python took about 10 minutes," Nik Ahmad said, adding that the snake was sluggish and unable to escape after gorging on its meal.
The reptile was handed over to the Kuala Krai Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action.
