IPOH, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- A trailer driver was killed in a three-vehicle collision at the Jalan Ipoh-Lumut, near Bota, yesterday.
Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah, said the 32-year-old driver of the cement-loaded trailer died at the scene of the accident, which occurred at around 11.15 pm.
He explained that the accident is believed to have happened when the trailer, travelling from Seri Iskandar towards Gelung Pepuyu, lost control and collided with the back of a stationary lorry and a Toyota Vios parked on the side of the road.
"As a result of the collision, the lorry also crashed into a house located approximately 100 metres to the left of the road. The house sustained damage to its garage," he said in a statement today.
Hafezul Helmi noted that the post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death to be 'polytrauma secondary to motor vehicle accident', adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to come forward and assist with the investigation by contacting Investigating Officer, Inspector M Maheswaran, at 010-7005051 or any nearby police station.
