CHUKAI, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu branch of the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 69,500 litres of diesel in two separate raids here yesterday.
Its director, Saharuddin Mohd Kia, said enforcement officers also seized a tanker lorry and eight skid tanks worth RM464,660 during the raids near Kampung Labohan, Kerteh.
“The raids carried out by a team of Terengganu KPDN enforcement officers and the Royal Malaysian Police at about noon yesterday resulted from two weeks of surveillance.
“Further investigation revealed that the two locations were illegal storage facilities stockpiling diesel without valid authorisation from the Controller of Supplies,” he said in a statement today.
Saharuddin said the two premises were owned by different individuals who allegedly transferred controlled goods from a licensed location to unlicensed sites.
Four men, aged 33 to 58, believed to be the owners, storekeeper and lorry driver, were detained to assist in investigations under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
He warned that KPDN would not compromise with anyone found misappropriating subsidised controlled goods.
