KULIM, Feb 7 (BERNAMA) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has found that a sundry shop in Lunas near here committed an offence by setting conditions for the purchase of subsidised one-kilogramme (kg) cooking oil packets.
Its Kedah director, Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said they conducted a test purchase at the shop under Ops Sabur yesterday after receiving complaints about the shop.
"During the test purchase, a woman in her 30s acting as the shop’s cashier, imposed conditions for the purchase, that customers are required to buy other products worth RM15 to qualify themselves to buy two packets.
"Subsequently, an enforcement team conducting further inspections at the shop found 2,006 kg of cooking oil packets being stored in the shop,” he said in a statement today.
Inspections also found that the shop had a license to sell controlled products, including sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour.
"All the packets of cooking oil, estimated to be worth RM 5,015, have been seized for further investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 19 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he added.
