FOUR MASKED ARMED ROBBERS AWAKEN SLEEPING AND ESCAPE WITH RM12,000

KUANTAN, March 21 (Bernama) -- A housewife faced an anxious moment when her house in Felda Chini Timur, Pekan was encroached by four men wearing black masks and armed with knives yesterday.

Pekan district police chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said the incident at 11.50pm occurred when the 26-year-old woman was sleeping in the room before she woke up due to the sound of items falling.

He said as soon as she came out of the room, she was shocked to see the four men and screamed until a suspect pointed a knife at the neck of the woman's four-year-old son who was sleeping in the living room.

"The suspect then instructed the woman to be quiet and searched the house before taking a necklace and bracelet from the victim's mother-in-law who was in the room, forcibly," he said in a statement today.

Apart from the jewellery, the suspect also took two mobile phones before fleeing through the kitchen door of the house with a total loss of RM12,000.

Mohd Zaidi said the victim informed that at the time of the incident, her husband and father-in-law were not at home and their home was not equipped with closed-circuit camera (CCTV).

"All the occupants of the house at the time of the incident did not suffer any injuries," he said, adding that efforts to trace the suspect were being carried out and the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
