KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Police arrested two men suspected of being involved in a syndicate distributing 3,4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) mixed into herbal drinks, following a raid on an apartment in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng here last Thursday.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said that in the raid at around 10.20 pm, police also seized various types of drugs worth RM251,000.

Among the items seized were 503 bottles of liquid suspected to be MDMA with an estimated weight of 239.5 kilogrammes, 298 grammes (g) of MDMA powder, 20 g of Erimin 5 drug, and 19.6 g of ketamine.

"With that amount, it can be used by as many as 3,631 drug addicts," he said at a press conference at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters (IPD) here today.

He said the results of the urine screening tests found that the two suspects, aged 30 and 32, tested positive for ketamine, and one of them had a previous criminal record related to drugs.

The first suspect (aged 30) has been remanded until tomorrow (Sept 30), while the second suspect (aged 32) has been remanded until Oct 2 to assist with investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"Police also seized two vehicles worth RM50,000, and RM140 in cash believed to be the proceeds of drug distribution activities, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM301,140," he said.

Sulizmie Affendy said the syndicate is believed to be targeting entertainment centres in the Klang Valley and has been operating since the beginning of this year, with the modus operandi of renting houses through online applications as drug processing locations.

“Both men who were arrested acted as couriers and were paid approximately RM100 for each delivery. The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Dang Wangi IPD is still actively pursuing the remaining members of the syndicate who are still at large," he added.
