KOTA BHARU, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The seven men and one woman arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a man in Pasir Puteh have had their remand order extended by two days, starting tomorrow.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid today, after approving the police's application for further investigation to be carried out under Sections 385, 342, and 365 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
Earlier, all the suspects, wearing orange police lockup attire and covering their faces, arrived at the Kota Bharu Magistrate's Court at 8.30 am.
On Sept 26, the victim, in his 20s, was kidnapped and confined in an unnumbered house in Cherang Ruku, and the suspects demanded a ransom of RM150,000 from his employer.
On Thursday (Oct 2), all the suspects, aged between 20 and 46, were arrested in several raids at six locations in Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh and Tumpat. Police also rescued the victim.
Police also seized various items, including 15 mobile phones, three vehicles, an iron chain with five padlocks, face masks, cable ties and clothing worn during the incident.
