SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Police busted two drug trafficking syndicates active in the Klang Valley by seizing 203.1 kilogrammes (kg) of drugs worth RM25.15 million during several raids around Subang Jaya and Serdang on Oct 1 and 5.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police also arrested six men and a woman aged 30 to 56 and seized various assets estimated at RM158,350 involving three vehicles and cash.
He said the first arrest on Oct 1 at 5.50 pm involved three local men in a vehicle in front of a house in Subang Jaya where police found 50.30 grammes (gm) of syabu (meth).
“A search of the two-storey terrace house led to the arrest of two more men and a woman, all locals, before finding 1.59 kg of syabu and 100 gm of ecstasy.
“An interrogation of the suspects led to a raid on a second house around Subang Jaya and the seizure of 111.89 kg of ecstasy pills (MDMA) and powder, 20.4 kg of heroin and 1.8 kg of heroin base as well as 17 bottles of chemical liquids and three bottles of chemical powder,” he said at a press conference here today.
Shazeli said investigations found that the terrace house was used as a storage before the drugs are distributed in Klang Valley, while the house was in the process of being converted into a drug-processing laboratory.
“Five of the six suspects have past records for drug-related offences and all of them tested positive for drugs,” he said.
In the second case, Shazeli said a police party uncovered the cunning tactics of a mechanic using a modified sports utility vehicle (SUV), specifically the boot as a compartment to store drugs for distribution, when he was stopped by the roadside in Serdang at 1 am on Sunday.
He said an inspection of the storage compartment, which required an access card to open, contained 63.7 kg of meth (syabu) and 20.1 kg of ecstasy pills estimated to be worth RM5.4 million.
"The compartment was modified to accommodate drugs packed in several suitcases," he said.
Shazeli said the 39-year-old local man was believed to be a runner for drug deliveries for Selangor and Johor and paid RM1,000 to RM3,000 for each trip.
He said the mechanic also ran a business in spare parts and repairs for imported vehicles.
"Further checks found that the suspect had two previous drug-related records, while initial screening tested him positive for drugs," he said, adding that all the drugs seized were believed to be bound for the Selangor and Johor markets.
Shazeli said all seven suspects were remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
