KEDAH COPS DISPOSE OVER 1,300 MODIFIED MOTORCYCLE ACCESSORIES

ALOR SETAR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Kedah police disposed of 1,385 modified motorcycle accessories worth RM131,000, seized between 2024 and September this year.

Kedah Police Chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said the disposed components included modified exhaust pipes, non-standard additional accessories, and various other parts considered unsafe for road use.

"The disposal involved 546 exhaust units, 574 swing arms, 15 carburettors, three Electronic Control Units (ECUs), 109 forks, and 138 other items, following a magistrate's order under Section 407 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The disposal process was carried out using a road roller machine.

"All the motorcycle accessories were confiscated and impounded under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Many more seized items are awaiting court orders for disposal," he said in a statement today.

Adzli said owners could reclaim their impounded motorcycles within 24 hours on the condition that they reinstall the original accessories.

"The road accident rate in the Kedah Contingent highlights the importance of this motorcycle component seizure operation. From January to Oct 5, there were 21,381 recorded cases, compared to 21,453 cases during the same period in 2024.

"The district with the highest reduction (in cases) is Kota Setar, with 4,485 cases in 2025 compared with 4,773 cases in 2024, while the number of fatal accidents in the Kuala Muda district dropped by 45 cases, 62 fatal accidents from January to October compared with 107 cases during the same period last year," he said.
