DEATH OF YEAR FOUR STUDENT: INVESTIGATION PAPER REFERRED TO AGC

SEREMBAN, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Police have completed their investigation into the death of a Year Four male student who was found unconscious in a school toilet in Senawang here on Oct 1.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the investigation paper has also been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) for further action.

He said police conducted a comprehensive investigation involving various elements, including the Behavioural Science Unit (D11) and the Forensic Investigation Unit (D10), from the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters.

"The direction of the investigation, apart from looking into whether there were criminal elements in the sudden death (SDR) investigation, also includes aspects of the possibility of a bullying incident or otherwise," Alzafny said in a statement here today.

He said statements from 49 witnesses were taken to complete the entire investigation.

Alzafny had said on Oct 3 (last Friday) that a post-mortem held at the Rembau Hospital Forensics Unit showed the pupil died due to pressure applied to his neck.

He also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information or comment on the case.

Previous media reports said the 10-year-old male student was found unconscious at a school before being confirmed dead on Oct 1.

Following that, an autopsy held on Oct 2 found that the cause of death was due to pressure on the neck and there were no other injuries on the student's body.
