MAN ON REMAND OVER GIRL STABBED WHILE RIDING MOTORCYCLE

MELAKA, Oct 21  (Bernama) -- A 25-year-old man is in remand for seven days over an incident involving a teenage girl who was injured on the lower back, believed to have been stabbed with a sharp object, while riding pillion on a motorcycle along Jalan Tangga Batu here yesterday.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate's Court here today.

The remand order, which expires on Oct 27, is to facilitate investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt by using a weapon or dangerous instrument.

Meanwhile, Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the man was arrested at 11 pm yesterday at a house in Jalan Tangga Batu, Tanjung Kling here.

He said police also seized a knife, as well as a motorcycle and helmet, believed to have been used by the suspect during the incident.
