Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail when contacted said the remand order was granted by the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court from today until October 31 to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Yesterday, Azizee said police arrested three men, including one believed to be the main suspect, aged between 30s and 40s.

Last Saturday, the media reported that Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru, believed to be the victims of murder.
The woman's body was found in the kitchen on the ground floor of the house while her daughter was on the top floor of the rented house.
Following the incident, police have arrested three suspects including the victim's 57-year-old husband to assist in the investigation.
