KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Police will apply to extend the remand order on local rap singer Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, to facilitate investigations into the death of a Taiwanese female influencer at a hotel in Jalan Conlay here last month.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the application will be submitted tomorrow after the remand period that began on Wednesday expires.

“Yes, the application to extend his remand will be made tomorrow,” he said when contacted here today.

Namewee is a person of interest in investigations into the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin, 33, whose body was found in a bathtub in a hotel room on Oct 22.

He was the last person to be with Hsieh prior her death, which was initially classified as sudden death before it was re-investigated as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Hsieh’s full autopsy report is still pending, along with a toxicology analysis to identify the real cause of death, while Namewee was charged at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Oct 24 for drug use and possession after he tested positive for drugs.
