BODY OF ONE MORE CAPSIZED BOAT VICTIM FOUND - MMEA

ALOR SETAR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- One more dead body from the migrant boat that capsized in Langkawi waters was found today, bringing the death toll to 29 with 14 saved.

Kedah and Perlis Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director, First Admiral (M) Romli Mustafa said they received a report from the public about the discovery of a man’s body at Pulau Singa Besar,” he said in a statement today, adding that an MMEA boat was mobilsed to the area to retrieve the body and it was taken to the MMEA jetty before being handed over to the police.

He also shared that the search and rescue operation, which entered the seventh day today, resumed at 7.30 am today involving a search sector of 33.86 nautical miles with the use of four assets.batu nautika persegi dengan pengoperasian empat aset.

He added that all rescue agencies remained committed to the operation until the entire search area was covered, and that efforts would continue.

In the previous six days, the search area stood at 1,355.15 nautical square miles.
