KOTA BHARU, 17 Nov (Bernama) -- An unemployed man pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to two counts of robbery.
Ramizu Che Amat, 43, made the plea before Judge Nik Habri Muhamad.
On the first count, he is charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code, with causing hurt to Choo Choi San, 51, during a robbery behind a motorcycle shop in Jalan Sultanah Zainab, here at 7 am, on June 24 last year.
He faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine or whipping if convicted.
Ramizu is also charged with robbing a gold chain belonging to Asmah Deraman, 70, at Kedai Gunong, Bachok, at 7.05 am last Sept 21.
The charge, framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to 14 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
The court set Dec 10 for mention.
In another Sessions Court, Ramizu pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing a 16-centimetre-long kerambit with a wooden sheath without a valid permit in Taman Sri Baung, here at 2 pm last Oct 14.
The charge, under Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosives Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, provides a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 10 years, if convicted.
Judge Zulkifli Abllah set Dec 17 for mention.
