GEORGE TOWN, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- An elderly man was found dead inside a locked house on Lebuh Nipah 3, Bayan Lepas, today.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said the department received a call from the police at 3.21 pm reporting a person inside a locked house and requesting assistance to open the door.
He said a team from Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station, along with two fire engines, was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the Operations Response Team (PKO) successfully opened the door using specialised equipment and discovered the body of a man who was confirmed dead by the medical personnel at the scene,” he said in a statement tonight.
John said according to the information received, the 89-year-old man lived alone and suffered from diabetes.
The victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation concluded at 3.58 pm.
