KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Four individuals, including activist Rafidah Ibrahim, were released on police bail yesterday evening after being detained for allegedly attempting to cause a commotion at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said all four were detained under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which relates to public order and safety.

"Investigations into the four are ongoing, and any updates will be notified later," he said after a contribution handover ceremony for 'Masih Ada Yang Sayang' by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council to 70 personnel from the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent here today.

He added that police always prioritise public order and safety at any event held in the country.

"If there is intelligence or any information we (the police) receive that may negatively affect public order and safety, the police will take action," he said.

Yesterday morning, police detained four individuals, including two women aged between 39 and 47, for allegedly attempting to trigger a commotion at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Meanwhile, on the assault case involving sports journalist Haresh Deol, Fadil said police are tracking down another individual involved in the incident.

"Although a suspect has been charged, investigations are still ongoing because he was charged under Section 34 of the Penal Code for acting jointly," he said.

Fadil, however, declined to comment when asked whether the other suspects involved had been identified.

On Nov 25, Haresh, the co-founder of the TwentyTwo13 news portal, said in a post on X that he had been attacked by two men while walking to his car, while another man recorded the incident on a mobile phone.
