KEPALA BATAS, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Two local men, aged 25 and 29, were arrested in connection with the theft of a Honda EX5 motorcycle at the Mekarsari Flat last Monday.
Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman said a man reported the theft at 11.30 am after his brother’s motorcycle, parked in the flat’s designated parking area, was stolen.
“Upon investigation, the motorcycle was found locked, but no extra key was used. The road tax and insurance had expired,” he added in a statement last night.
CCTV footage from the area confirmed that the theft was committed by local individuals. Following intelligence and surveillance efforts, police managed to track down and arrest the two suspects.
Anuar noted that one suspect had a criminal record, including drug-related offences, while the other had no previous convictions. Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine during urine screenings.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, and the suspects are expected to be remanded at Butterworth Magistrate's Court this morning.
