SEREMBAN, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Police have arrested a man and obtained a seven-day remand order to assist in investigations into the discovery of a woman’s body found inside a bag buried behind an unoccupied house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, yesterday.
Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief SAC Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the 41-year-old suspect is believed to have known the victim, although police have yet to determine whether he was directly involved in the case.
“We believe several other individuals may also be involved and efforts to trace them are currently underway,” he told Bernama today.
The suspect was detained at about 2.30 pm in Melaka before being brought to the Rembau District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation. Checks revealed that he has six previous criminal records, including drug-related offences.
Muhammad Idzam added that a post-mortem examination is being conducted at Rembau Hospital to establish the victim’s identity and the cause of death.
Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the body found is believed to be that of a woman reported missing in Ampang, Selangor, since Dec 8.
He said a missing person report was lodged at the Ampang Police Station in Ampang Jaya on Monday, after which police inspected a house along Jalan Pedas–Linggi, where evidence of criminal activity was detected.
