THREE DIE, THREE OTHERS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN GUA MUSANG

KOTA BHARU, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Three men were killed while three others, including a woman, were seriously injured in a collision involving two vehicles in Kampung Paloh along the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai road this afternoon.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Che Razak Harun said the accident involved a Nissan Serena multi-purpose vehicle carrying four men and a Toyota Hiace van with a man and a woman.

“We received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.01 pm, after which fire engines from the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon the team’s arrival at 1.43 pm, six victims were found to be involved in the accident. Three men in the Nissan Serena died at the scene, while the driver was trapped and suffered serious injuries,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He added that the Toyota Hiace occupants, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to Gua Musang Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Gua Musang Police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the dead were Nik Razizi Nik Rahim, 55; Nik Azmi Nik Othman, 47; and Mohamed Saiful Kamaruzaman, 33.

He said preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred when a 42-year-old MPV driver, travelling from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur with three colleagues to attend a course, lost control of his vehicle.

“The MPV skidded into the opposite lane and collided with a van coming from the other direction.

“The van spun before ramming the stone barrier on the left side of the road towards Gua Musang,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
