POLICE HUNT THREE SUSPECTS AFTER HOUSE BREAK-IN IN JASIN

JASIN, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Police are hunting down three men believed to have broken into a house in Taman Anjung Gapam here last night and stolen foreign currency worth about RM1,500.

Jasin police chief Supt Lee Robert said the incident occurred at about 9.20pm and was captured by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system installed at the house.

He said the crime was discovered by the 37-year-old homeowner, a beauty centre manager, while she was on her way home after receiving a CCTV alert on her mobile phone.

“In the footage, the victim saw two men breaking into her house while another suspect remained outside. She then contacted the Bemban Police Station to seek immediate assistance,” he said in a statement today.

Lee said a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit that arrived at the scene escorted the victim to inspect the premises and found that a drawer in the master bedroom wardrobe had been forced open.

Checks revealed that foreign currency from China, Indonesia, Thailand and Korea kept in the drawer had been stolen, with losses estimated at RM1,500.

He said the suspects gained entry by prying open the front iron grille and wooden door.

Eight fingerprints were lifted during a dusting process, and a K9 unit was also deployed to track down the suspects.
