REMAND EXTENDED FOR THREE IN SUNGAI DUA MURDER CASE

BUTTERWORTH, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Three men detained to assist in the investigation into the death of a woman, believed to have been murdered at her first-floor unit at Sri Murni Flat, Sungai Dua here on Feb 4, have been remanded for a further two to five days.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the remand for the three suspects, aged between 38 and 45, including a Myanmar national, was due to end today after they were arrested several hours following the incident.

He said the Myanmar national’s remand was extended for two days until Feb 13, while the two local men were remanded for a further five days until Feb 16.

“The extension is to allow police to complete the investigation paper before submitting it to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action,” he said when contacted today.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Earlier, it was reported that the 41-year-old victim, a school van driver, was found lying on a bed in a room at the house with slash wounds to her neck.
